Dave Kartzman 2012

We participated in the ‘Taste of Beaufort’ craft show.  This is an annual event in Beaufort, SC  which highlights the restaurants found in Beaufort. There are some wonderful places to dine here. A few of our favorites are Breakwater, Panini’s, and Plums. The weather was hot (over 90), but beautiful. We were the last vendor at the end, and were treated to an unobstructed breeze coming from the river, which helped with the heat. There were many people attending, but one particular couple stood out for me. He and his wife were on vacation in Beaufort. He was a doctor from Mississippi. I saw them standing outside of our booth, looking at the turnings for a few minutes. They then walked into the booth, picked up a really nice 6 inch ambrosia maple bowl, walked over to the ikebanas and winestoppers, and selected a couple there. He told me that he has been a woodworker for years (flatwork). He then complimented me on the quality of my turnings, and commented that my prices were very fair. The latter point has been a concern to me for some time. It is always a great feeling to be complimented on your work.
